Sept 2026 Update: Growing, Gathering, and Looking Beyond
September was a full month! Between school, preparing for our Beyond the Horizon fundraiser, and the normal rhythms of ministry, there has been a lot happening. As I look back, I am especially thankful for the ways I can see God continuing to grow both me and YWAM Ships Corpus Christi.
Here are a few highlights from the past month!
Worship on the Water
We have also started something new called Worship on the Water! Twice a month, we invite people from our community to join us on the water in our boats to worship God and intercede for unreached people groups along the coasts and islands.
I love that this gives people an opportunity to combine a love for the water with a heart for God's mission. It is another small way we are seeing our vision come together: reaching the isolated, beyond our shores and at our doors.
A Rich Season of Learning
On September 30th, I completed two eight-week courses through the South Texas School of Ministry at my church: Identity in Christ and Kingdom vs. Kingdom. Both were incredibly rich and gave me a deeper understanding of who God created us to be, what was lost through sin, and what Jesus came to restore.
Kingdom vs. Kingdom also gave me a much greater understanding of God's Kingdom, the kingdom of darkness, and what Jesus' death and resurrection accomplished. I am grateful for all God has been teaching me through these studies. I am sad to see the classes end.
A Small Beginning
Helping to coordinate our Beyond the Horizon fundraiser that happened a week ago kept me very busy in September, and we were so thankful for everyone who came, gave, prayed, and helped make the evening possible.
One of my favorite things to come out of the event was connecting with three teenagers/young adults from our community, what we call our Next Gen. All three have since filled out volunteer applications and joined us for our worship and intercession times this week.
We have been praying for God to help us make a greater impact among the youth and young adults in our community, so it is exciting to see Him begin to open that door. I believe this is a small beginning to something God is going to continue to grow!
Praying for a Place to Call Home
A major focus of our Beyond the Horizon event was our growing need for a facility. Right now, we meet in homes, coffee shops, churches, businesses, and wherever else we can find space. We are grateful for every door that has been opened, but as we grow, this is becoming increasingly difficult.
We are praying for a place we can call home, somewhere we can gather, train, work, host people, and make space for what God wants to do through YWAM Ships Corpus Christi.
We are currently looking at a large home that could work remarkably well for both housing and meeting space, and the location is an incredible fit for our needs.
Please pray that if this is the space God has for us, He would make a way for us to walk into it. And if it isn't, that He would lead us to the right place and make a way for us to walk into that instead.
Ten Students!
Our Bible Core Course (BCC) has now been underway for a month, and it is going really well!
In my last update, I shared that we had seven students enrolled. Later that day (the day before the school began), three more students joined us, bringing our total to ten students!
It has been exciting to watch this group dig into God's Word together, and I am looking forward to seeing how God continues to work in each of their lives through this season.
Come Pray With Me
As we look toward the coming months, I would love for you to join me in praying for several things:
Our Next Gen: Pray for the three young people who have connected with us, and for God to continue opening doors to reach and disciple more youth and young adults in our community.
A facility: Pray for clear direction and provision as we explore the home we are currently considering.
Worship on the Water: Pray that God would draw people who want to know Him and partner with what He is doing among the unreached.
Our BCC students: Pray that God's Word would take deep root in their lives and that He would reveal His purposes for each of them.
YWAM Ships Corpus Christi: Pray for continued growth, wisdom, provision, and for us to faithfully follow wherever God leads.
Renewing My Lease: I need to renew the lease on my apartment later this month. My little apartment has been such a blessing, and I have really enjoyed living there. I would love to continue staying at this location. Please pray with me that the rent will not increase.
My Financial Support: I need to see an increase in my monthly support to cover all my personal and ministry expenses each month.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your prayers, encouragement, and partnership truly make a difference!
