Back 2 School - You can help...

In my last update, I talked about being in a testing phase for the M/V Amazing Grace. We were hoping to be done with all the testing by the end of June. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. We are currently waiting to get the results of the stability test. Everything is on hold until we get those results. We are praying that they come back soon and all is well. Once we get the report back, we will continue with the remainder of the tests and inspections. It has been a slow process, but things are still moving forward, and we are trusting God’s timing.

I have stayed busy this month continuing to help with administrative tasks. It has been such a blessing to be able to be a part of seeing this ministry started!

Back 2 School

I have learned so much in the almost 5 years that I have been serving in maritime ministry. I have taken some classes and done some formal learning but have been somewhat limited in how I can serve, because I don’t have the right certifications. One of the biggest issues that the ship ministries have is getting qualified, long-term marine crew. Without this crew they can’t do ministry. It takes time and money to get the qualifications and very few YWAMers have the needed licensing. I believe that God has told me it is time to go deeper in my training, so that I can serve in a higher capacity and help with this need.

For the month of August, I plan to go to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and go to school. I will take 5 weeks of classes to complete the classes needed for the next level of certifications. I’m really excited to continue going deeper in knowledge in this sphere that God has called me to. Some of the skills I will be learning with these classes include: radar, advanced firefighting, medical first aid, rescue and lifeboats, security, navigational watchkeeping, safety and much more.

This is an expensive endeavor. The cost for the classes will be $5000. I am also needing transportation and housing while I am in Ft. Lauderdale. If I need to pay full price for those, it could cost at least $6500 more.
