August has been a very busy and exciting month. I have a couple of exciting things that happened this month to tell you about. The first is I started a new job position this month on the Logos Hope. The second is what I told you about in my last update with the exciting outreach locations for this month.

My new role on Logos Hope:

This month I started two new jobs on the Logos Hope. First, I was asked to take on the role of the Environmental Control Officer. This person makes sure the way the ship and crew interact with the environment is compliant with the rules set by governing marine regulations and the regulations of the ports/countries we are visiting. The two main things that I do regularly is to deal with getting all the trash for our 300+ crew and thousands of guests off the ship in a way that fits within all the regulations. I also work to make sure that our ship stays a bug free environment. Maybe not the most glamorous job, but it is a job that must be done.

I have also taken over the care and maintenance of the lines onboard. Primarily our mooring lines. Lines on a ship is just another word for ropes. Mooring lines are the large ropes that we use to tie the ship to the dock. I make sure that the lines that we use onboard the ship are maintained, inspected, and are safe to use.

Outreach locations for August:

The first few days of August, we wrapped up our time in Malta. Below is the ship’s ministry report video from that time.

We received an invite to go to Benghazi, Libya. We departed Malta and sailed south for this opportunity, and what an amazing opportunity it was. We were there for 8 days and saw 87,830 people come to visit the ship’s bookfair. What a great turn out. We were able to engage with the visitors and found them to be such friendly and hospitable people. Most of the people will never have the opportunity to leave their country and with very few foreigners allowed entry, they were all so eager to meet our crew from all over the world. They are truly a beautiful people.

When it was time to depart there, we had not received the invitations that we were praying for to the our next port, so we decided to return to Malta for another 10 days of ministry here.

What’s next:

We will be departing Malta on the last day of August to make the sail up to Albania. Please be praying for our time ministering there in September. We will also have the bi-annual crew change there and are expecting around 120 new crew to join us mid-September. Please be praying for that transition and for everyone to make it safely.
